Case study
WASE is an innovative waste-to-energy company. It had just completed a customer demo trial when we started working with them.
WASE is a Bristol, UK-based startup developing a new form of anaerobic digestion (AD) technology that utilizes an innovative bio-electrochemical process.
It’s products, which fit within a shipping container, transform organic wastes into bioenergy, which can then be used to reduce a factory’s external energy needs.
When Colbridge started working with them in early 2023, the company had received some grant money and closed a pre-seed round. The company’s value proposition was still rough, as was market understanding. The company’s runway was also rapidly coming to an end.
How our Partner reshaped WASE’s commercial strategy, boosted customer traction, and laid the foundation for growth.
Over 18 months, our Partner Manshu Agarwal was WASE’s CCO. During the initial months, he focused on clarifying the value proposition, improving market understanding, and deconstructing the sales cycle.
With greater understanding and clarity, he honed the sales approach, materials, and pitch to improve customer conversions.
He also initiated a stream of work to analysing the underlying techno-economics, improve the sales architecture, and enhance customer acquisition.
Early traction led to key contracts, a $15M+ pipeline, and over $10M in seed funding from top investors.
Contracts were struck with the first few commercial customers
A pipeline of >$15m was built up for the next 2 years
A set of regional partnerships were developed to increase customer acquisition and ability to service customers
The commercial traction directly led to a $10m+ seed round of financing being raised from leading European VCs and global industry partners (Extantia, Hitachi, Engie, WEPA)
